ANIMALS AS PEOPLE
Compare and contrast
Gather reference of animal, and draw them as people. The most common surprise is how small human muzzles seem compared to animals.Seeing the difference helps you notice the forms.
Socially,it might not be a good idea to compare your friends and family with animals.Artistically,it's very good idea if you want to understand facial features. There are so many variations of animal features that it could take a career to learn them all.Comparisons are the most efficient shortcut, and the most fun-as long as they don't end up in hurt feelings or violent response.--www.banedarkart.com
When i show the bodies in motion, you must consider physics and how various forces exert on the figure to push and pull it about. What are the effects to gravity on the pose? What about inertia or momentum?Which way is the body moving? All of these considerations tell you which forces are acting on our figure, and how much strain the body should undergo to do what it want to do.Next, consider the restrictions imposed by anatomy.Bodies are limited in the ways that they can bend, twist, stretch and rotate.Artistically speaking,it's acceptable for you to exaggerate these limits, but not to ignore them altogether.Take a leaping figure;when a body is airborne, gravity pulls it down, led by the trunk of the figure.Inertia dictates that the limbs will tend to trail behind the torso as force is applied upwards.
With these points in mind,i sketch out my figure accordingly. If i'm unsure about how to position certain part of the pose myself, looking in a mirror,so that i can see how far back an arm or a leg can extend behind the moving body without it starting to feel too uncomfortable or unreal.
Now that we've discussed the theory of drawing in part one, let's talk about the practical side of things. How does drawing work in the grind of a real-life illustration job?
Drawing skill are at the heart of good illustration.Without them, you final illustration will be weak.Drawing provides the intellectual framework of an illustration, and is the primary means by which your ideas will be communicated. It also offers an excellent way of exploring an idea.and slowly refining it down to something truly beautiful, eliminating the errors and weakness, and maximising the impact of its strengths.
Picturing the idea
Before beginning your illustration, you have to know what it is you want to do.If you're working for a client then this may already be taken care of.Yet often even if you have been given abrief, how you'll show the idea is still a mystery locked inside your head, and we must find a way to bring it out. What's the mood of the scene? Who or what are its inhabitants?Where is the tension? Wander around in your imagination first.Explore the possibilities mentally.
While technical skill represents the scientific half of art-the side that's personal to you. It's this part that can't be taught scientifically. The technical aspects anyone, given enough time and dedication. The ideas, though, are your own and they arise out of every experience you have ever had.So think hard on them before you begin.
